Austin 12

BELLA

“It is known that nothing in Britain is respectable until it is old.”

Edward Hyams, The Observer, May 27th 1956

The Austin Motor Company was founded by Herbert Austin in 1906. Despite

prospering during the war with the Austin 20, in peacetime relying on one

make wasn’t realistic and by 1921 the company was in receivership. To appeal

to a wider market the Austin 7 and Austin 12/4 were brought into production.

The Austin 12/4 Light was a wonderful vehicle designed for economy and

comfort. During the 1930’s this particular model was used by most of

London’s taxi firms to transport those lucky enough to afford such luxury.

Finished in dark navy blue and black paintwork, Bella is an authentic

example of a post-war vintage motor car.
